Dale Rio
HORIZONTAL PORTFOLIO AND CONFERENCES
Dale Rio is a photographic artist exploring mortality, human constructs, and humanity's relationship with nature. Utilizing film and historic photographic processes, she documents the world and creates conceptual responses. Her work has been exhibited in the US, England, Germany, and New Zealand. Dale holds a BA in Studio Art from Smith College and an MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute. She received a Fulbright Travel Grant and the Miguel Vinciguerra Grant to document rural life in Sicily. In 2018, she was awarded a Windgate Scholarship to study the Daguerreotype process at Penland School of Craft. Dale has attended residencies at Penland, MASS MoCA, Farmington Valley Arts Center, and Ars BioArctica in Finland. She co-founded The Halide Project and launched "Point A to Point B: analog explorations" and Lux et Libera.
