Fruma Markowitz

Fruma Markowitz’s photography focuses on historical, experimental, and hand-made processes, including cyanotype, lumen printing, textile-based collage, and unique photobooks. Her work is inspired by family life, womanhood, cultural history, memory, and shared legacies. A Connecticut resident since 2003, she is active in local artist organizations and has exhibited nationally at places like the SoHo Photo Gallery, Panopticon Gallery, and Griffin Museum of Photography. Fruma has been featured in DekUnu Arts (2023), Analog Forever Magazine (2024), and Lenscratch Magazine (2024), and received Honorable Mentions in the Julia Margaret Cameron Award (2022, 2023). She has led workshops, taught photography to women in crisis and cancer survivors, and completed an artist residency at Weir Farm Nature Preserve in 2022. Fruma earned her BFA in photography from Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, Israel in 1984.
