Carlos Del Río

A photographer and visual artist with a doctoral background in neuroscience, whose artistic practice closely engages with scientific research and material experimentation. Drawing on years of laboratory experience, his work explores the traditional limits of the photographic image through analogue techniques and alternative processes. His most recent line of research is developed through the project Good Gravy!, which focuses on the intersection of analogue photography, science, and gastronomy by manipulating photographic film using food products and culinary techniques. His work has received international recognition, has been published in specialised magazines, and exhibited in galleries and photography festivals. In 2025, he was selected as one of the 25 LGBTQ+ photographers to follow by Analog Forever Magazine, received First Prize in the Technique category at the international Analog Sparks awards, and was selected for the XV Encontro de Artistas Novos Cidade da Cultura de Galicia. He has presented solo and group exhibitions in Spain, Lithuania, and Austria, participated in contemporary art fairs, and his work is held in private collections. He is represented by Galería El Silo Eléctrico.
