Célica Véliz

Argentina

A visual artist and photographer with training in photography, visual arts, and ceramics. She studied photography at IPAT and completed a Visual Arts Teaching degree at the School of Ceramics, beginning an ongoing investigation into nineteenth century photographic techniques. Since 2024, she has been pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Arts at the Faculty of Humanities of the National University of San Martín. She maintains an extensive teaching practice as a tenured professor of Photochemical Processes I and II in the University Photography Program at the National University of La Plata, and coordinates alternative photographic process workshops at the Cooperativa de la Imagen in Buenos Aires, through her online platform Superficies Sensibles, and at the Ágora of the Experimental Photo Festival. Since 2023 she has directed the International Experimental Residency EXP IEFC UB, developed in collaboration with the Experimental Photo Festival, the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya, and the University of Barcelona. Her work explores autobiography, self-portraiture, visual storytelling, and material experimentation, and has been presented in exhibitions and festivals across Latin America and Europe.
