Ergül Karagözoğlu is a visual artist and practice-based PhD researcher from Türkiye working across experimental photography and alternative darkroom processes. Her work explores memory, migration, belonging, and the female body through tactile, process-driven approaches. Using cyanotypes, chemigrams, photograms, handmade negatives, and chemically altered 35mm film, she treats the photosensitive surface as a space shaped by touch, chance, and material transformation.
Karagözoğlu approaches photography as a mutable, living surface rather than a fixed representation. Distortions, chemical traces, and unexpected textures become visual expressions of fragmented memory, emotional resonance, and the shifting relationship between body and place. Her practice foregrounds the poetics of imperfection and the generative role of accident in image-making.
She continues to develop her research and artistic practice alongside her doctoral studies in Art and Design Program at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University and is based in Bodrum, Türkiye.
