Estefanía Montenegro
Ecuador
A visual artist, philosopher, experimental photographer, and storyteller whose practice addresses themes of migration, gender, identity, and human rights. Her work is informed by personal experiences of displacement and living across different countries over the past decade, a journey shaped by prolonged crisis in her country of origin. From these lived experiences, she develops a sensitive and critical investigation into the geographical, symbolic, and bodily boundaries that shape contemporary identity. Her practice combines image-making, philosophical inquiry, and storytelling as tools to question notions of belonging, borders, and memory from a situated and engaged perspective.
