Lily Night
China
A visual artist whose life trajectory is shaped by experiences of migration and cultural displacement. Born in China and raised across different family contexts, she moved to Japan during her adolescence and further studied in UK. Overlapping her personal experience with the transforming technological and existential conditions of contemporary society, her practice. Addresses themes of subconsciousness, identity, belonging, adaptation, and the formation of relationships within changing environments. Experimenting with drawing, painting, photography, collage and mixed media, her trans-disciplinary practice adds layers to and broadens the possibility of contemporary art expressions as they continue to take form. Her work inhabits the space of uncertainty and openness, understanding artistic creation as a tool for connection, community building, and exploring new ways of inhabiting both the earth and the world.
