Macarena Stipetic

Spain

A visual artist born in Buenos Aires and based in Barcelona whose practice explores the relationship between image, body, and emotion through analogue and hands-on processes such as Polaroid Emulsion Lift, interventions on Polaroids, and double exposures on 35 mm film. Her work embraces imperfection, gesture, and materiality, understanding error as an active part of the creative process and as a space where the image shifts from documentation to embodied experience. Her main project, Sentiments, seeks to make emotional fragility and beauty visible, using Emulsion Lift as a metaphor for skin, where folds and cracks operate as affective traces. Within this body of work emerges Nacidas para agradar, a mural composed of 252 hand-stitched Polaroids bringing together portraits of women and emotions as a symbolic act of connection and liberation, proposing photography as a tactile, vulnerable, and deeply human language.
