Thomas Lafuente
France
A visual artist whose practice focuses on experimental analogue photography and long-duration pinhole processes, with a specific dedication to solargraphy. His work investigates the relationship between light, time, and nature through the use of handmade cameras, often built from recycled materials, exposing photographic paper for months at a time. The resulting images function as direct imprints of time, shaped by the dialogue between the sun, weather, and chance. His research explores how simplicity, patience, and analogue experimentation can expand the way we perceive the world. In 2025, he developed the world’s first Solargraphy Hyperlapse, created by installing 180 pinhole cameras along six kilometres of roadway in collaboration with Statens Vegvesen, merging public infrastructure with experimental art. To date, he has installed more than 400 cameras across ten countries, consolidating a practice that brings together science, poetry, and analogue craft.
