T07. Big Picture, Tiny Frames: How to Create Instant Photography Collage
Erin O'Leary
 4 HOURS, 19/07 WEDNESDAY

In this workshop there will be a brief introduction to the world of street photography made with pinhole, you will see technical notes on the design of the camera with examples. Then get to work making. In the final stretch of the course there will be cameras ready to have the possibility, if we are lucky, to go out and shoot.

+Participants should bring film.

T47. Experimental Instant Photography
Erin O'Leary
 8 HOURS, 22/07 SATURDAY

In this advanced workshop, we will dive deeper into experimental instant photography techniques and enhancements, such as creating transparencies, sepia toned images, bleach baths and advanced collaging techniques. This workshop is all about experimentation, trial and error, and most importantly, having fun with your instant photos. Some of these practices work especially well for Instax users, but Polaroid users are also welcome.

+ Participants must bring:

- Instant Images. This can either be either a collection, or collage images, or just single images you’d like to work with. Bring some outtakes to practice with as well.

- Printable image files on your phone (please do not bring pictures on memory cards; we will not have the time/equipment for post-processing and transferring images)

- at least 1-2 packs of film (either Instax Mini, Instax Square, Polaroid i-Type or Polaroid 600)

- Optional: Instant Printer (if you have one).

T22. Instant Film Emulsion Lifts & Creative Manipulation
Cali M. Banks
 4 HOURS, 20/07 THURSDAY

This introductory course will focus on the process of instant film emulsion lifts and transfers, along with creative manipulation of the surface to further push the boundaries of photography. To fully understand the process, we will focus on transferring to watercolor paper. No experience is needed for this workshop - it is open to all who are interested and want to create!

+ Participants should bring at least 4 images to work with that have been shot at least 24 hours prior. At least one image should be a Polaroid, but participants can bring Instax if they so choose. The more images they bring, the better. Participants can also bring materials to manipulate the work with, such as paints, inks, stickers, glitter, thread, needles. They can also bring alternative paper to do transfers onto.

T49. Advanced Instant Film Manipulation
Cali M. Banks
 8 HOURS, 22/07 SATURDAY

This advanced workshop will consist of instant film emulsion lifts and transfers to alternative surfaces - with a focus on sculptural and structural photography. There will be a large focus on surface manipulation, versus learning the process of emulsion lifts. We will also discuss the importance of narrative and context in their work, and how to build a successful body of work. This course will focus on the process of instant film emulsion lifts and transfers, and how to successfully incorporate this into their practice. We will focus on the content and context of their work, which will lead into how to create a robust body of work. We will learn how to transfer onto alternative surfaces and papers as this is the advanced course, which allows an even further exploration of sculptural and structural photography - which could branch into 3 dimensional photographic objects.

+ Participants should bring at least four images to work with that have been shot at least 24 hours prior. At least one image should be a Polaroid, but participants can bring Instax if they so choose. The more images they bring, the better. Participants can also bring materials to manipulate the work with, such as paints, inks, stickers, glitter, thread, needles. They can also bring alternative paper and/or objects to do transfers onto.

T13. Polapressotype: Creating, Conscious and Confusion
Niklas Washausen
 4 HOURS, 20/07 THURSDAY

In this workshop each participant will receive 1-2 polaroid films; after a brief theoretical introduction. What follows is the creation of his Polaroids through the Polapressotype technique with various different tools of their choice and that they brought from home. We will then compare the concept with the result and participants are encouraged to discuss their creation with other participants. A second round could follow where there is no visual pre-conception phase to encourage experiential thinking and creativity.

+ Participants should please bring their own Polaroid fillm and tools for spreading, rolling, squeezing, pushing liquid on a surface varying in size and form (pencils, bottles, film containers, chopsticks).

T27. Stages of Glitch: Polapressotype, Pixelsorting and Everything in Between
Niklas Washausen
 8 HOURS, 21/07 FRIDAY

Starting with the Polapressotype and the bare application of developer on photosensitive paper, we want to explore the different stages of glitching an image into the absurdity or nothingness of interpretive aspirations and thus understanding the history of glitch as a technique, concept, community and way of thinking. Starting from analog processes of creating an initial image without a camera, the results are scanned and transferred to the digital and then be manipulated with various existing programs and tools. These processes are regularly reflected upon through the issues raised above.

+ Participants should bring their own Polaroid film and a working device (computer / mobile phone) and choose and bring at least 2 digital tools/softwar's or programms that they are confident in working with them.
