T10. Transparencias con Polaroid

4 HORAS, 24/07 MIÉRCOLES POR LAS TARDE
En el taller, los participantes experimentarán con la manipulación de películas fotográficas para crear imágenes translúcidas, montadas sobre una base clara para efectos visuales únicos. Se emplearán diversas herramientas y técnicas, como el corte preciso de la película y la superposición de imágenes, para construir nuevas fotografías. Se establecerá un laboratorio Polaroid donde se explorarán las posibilidades creativas de la técnica, reflexionando sobre la importancia de la experimentación y los errores en el proceso creativo. Se incluirá una presentación inicial, una comprensión detallada de la estructura de la película integral y una práctica de retrato entre los participantes, fomentando la interacción y la colaboración. Las intervenciones prácticas incluirán la manipulación directa de la película durante el revelado, así como la superposición de transparencias con otros medios gráficos para crear nuevas imágenes.
Desarrollo del taller
• Entender el soporte: Descripción y estructura de la película integral y sus partes.
• Presentación de referentes y trabajos propios.
• Realización de 3 retratos entre los participantes. Mediante un juego de números se determinará quién retratará a quién.
(nota: Esta práctica tiene como objetivo generar el material con el cual trabajaremos en el taller incorporando cualidades como el azar y la interacción entre los participantes, interviniendo cada uno con la imagen de otro, pudiendo finalmente ser intercambiables)
• Manipulación mediante el revelado (in situ). Manipularemos la hoja de la película integral, generando burbujas de aire entre los agentes químicos con movimientos y dobleces, Sin más herramientas que nuestras propias manos.
• Transformaremos nuestras imágenes en transparencias y crearemos nuevas a partir de la superposición de ellas con otros medios gráficos, como revistas, para reforzar o potenciar la imagen.
+ Participantes deberán traer su cámara polaroid con película integral para trabajar. Utilizaremos solo fotografías tomadas durante el taller. Deberán traer revistas para intervenir las imágenes construidas.
T32. Doble Exposición y Collage en Polaroid

4 HORAS, 26/07 VIERNES POR LA TARDE
En el taller "Doble Exposición y Collage en Polaroid", los participantes explorarán la técnica de crear múltiples exposiciones en Polaroid, estableciendo una base sólida en esta forma única de fotografía. Se habilitará un laboratorio personalizado de Polaroid para la experimentación y transformación de la película integral, destacando la importancia de la experimentación y la capacidad de los errores para ampliar el lenguaje fotográfico. Se reflexionará sobre las analogías y filosofías detrás de cada técnica, acción y transformación, facilitando la construcción de poemas visuales o mensajes significativos. El taller incluirá presentaciones iniciales, una descripción detallada de la película integral, demostraciones paso a paso del proceso, manejo de la cámara y propiedades de la película, así como técnicas de exposición múltiple y collage plástico. Los participantes serán alentados a abrazar las imperfecciones y errores como parte del proceso creativo, y se fomentará el diálogo con las imágenes para informar las decisiones creativas, resaltando el impacto poético de cada gesto creativo.
Desarrollo del taller
• Introducción: Presentación mía y de los participantes. Entender el soporte. Descripción y estructura de la película integral y sus partes.
• Presentación de pdf y trabajos propios. Es importante familiarizarse con nuestra cámara y sus funciones básicas. Informarse también sobre las propiedades de películas.
• Crearemos filtros de colores y/o formas sobre la base traslúcida para generar efectos en nuestras nuevas imagenes.
• Collage plástico y otras intervenciones. (Fragmentación, Cuadro, Cosido-Suturas, Fundir-Unir) • Cierre: crear entre todxs un mural monstruoso.
T12. Emulsion Lifts with Polaroids

4 HOURS, 24/07 WEDNESDAY IN THE AFTERNOON
At this workshop you will learn my creative work flow from the beginning starting with what sorts of inspiration I use on creating a image on Polaroid Film and understanding what you want to portray, sensorially, with Hybrid Photography techniques and the Emulsion Lift Technique. The Emulsion Lift technique consists in cutting off the picture's border, separating the negative layer from the positive layer and submerging the positive layer in warm water. The emulsion will start to come free from the plastic layer and float on the water and it results in beautiful, fragile images that float in the water. You will learn how to handle the Polaroid in the whole process while embracing Hybrid Photography and mixing Photography, painting, collage and channeling pure emotions for translating it on your image with tools that you can find at home like homemade spices or coffee, for example. This experience will teach how to practice the act of letting go, creatively and that experimental process will change the way you think of Photography itself.
Outline
• Theoretical and historical showing when the technique was created and presenting old examples and my own experiments.
• Introduction of all of the materials that I use and photography time that could be a self portrait, a portrait of someone or a landscape photo.
• Emulsion lift time on watercolor paper support and talk about the final projects.
+ Participants must bring Polaroid Camera (If they have one otherwise we can share), Polaroid Film, Lighter, Old Magazines.
T34. Finding. Collage with Lumen & Darkroom Photograms

4 HOURS 26/07 FRIDAY IN THE AFTERNOON
In this workshop spanning four hours, participants will embark on a journey of artistic exploration, delving into the fascinating realm of photographic collage techniques. The workshop will be divided into several components, each designed to provide hands-on experience and foster collaborative creativity. During the initial, participants will be introduced to the conceptual framework underpinning our creative endeavor. Through a blend of theoretical discussion and historical context, we will explore the themes of found images, collage techniques, and the layering of imagery. Drawing inspiration from renowned artists and showcasing examples of my own work, we'll delve into how analog and alternative photographic processes can reveal new and hidden messages within existing imagery. Following the theoretical segment, participants will engage in practical exercises designed to apply the concepts discussed.

• Introduction of Concept: Exploring found images, collage, and layering in analog & alt-process photography to reveal hidden messages.
• Historical Context: Overview of artists integrating similar concepts, followed by Brenna's own approach.
• Technical Introduction: Preparation for practical workshop, outlining techniques and objectives.

• Demonstration of lumen printing and darkroom photogram making, ensuring understanding.
• "Found" Collages with Lumen using found printed materials to reveal hidden messages through lumen printing.
• "Found" Collages with Darkroom creating collages with darkroom contact printing, emphasizing message discovery.
• Collaborative Found Collage, group activity combining both processes to construct larger piece, fostering creativity and experimentation.
T4. Experimenting with photobooks/photozines Stéphanie Probst
4 HOURS, 24/07 WEDNESDAY IN THE MORNING
In this workshop, participants will explore various techniques and possibilities for editing and creating booklets, zines, and artist photobooks. The focus will be on introducing different formats, paper types, binding methods, folding techniques, and innovative ways to present content. Additionally, participants will learn about layout design, digital tools, do-it-yourself (DIY) approaches, and professional tips for creating visually engaging publications. The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with the fundamental theory and tools needed to foster creativity and experimentation in bookmaking. Participants will be empower to continue developing their skills beyond the workshop by providing materials and resources for further exploration. Creating a collection of images is one aspect of artistic expression, but bringing those images to life and sharing them with an audience through a book or cine adds another layer of skill and creativity. The workshop will explore the importance of packaging and presenting content in a compelling and meaningful way, considering how the format, materiality, and design contribute to the overall message.

• Presentation and theory, examples (formats, folding, binding, layout…)
• First assigment: make a 8 folded A4 sheet zine to present you work/main goals/interest
• Collective review of the zine

+ The participants must bring printed image of their work. NOTE: Send me their pictures BEFORE the workshop or USB key to print on site (but preferably bring printed things!) Participants mus bring materials, or send to me before the workshop. I Will also bring different materialsa top lay with (Magazines, scraps, different paper, etc)
T24. Leporello: a story made of three-dimensional collages

4 HOURS, 25/07 THURSDAY IN THE AFTERNOON
In this workshop you will learn how to create a Leporello. The leporello is a strip of paper folded on itself to form an accordion. It is a technique for creating a book quickly and originally without needing binding. Through the workshop we will explore the three-dimensional value of leporello, creating collages that develop on a dynamic surface. We will create a story using only images: magazine clippings, photographs, archive images, illustrations. We will explore how a leporello, in addition to being a book, can become an exhibition object.
